1st Place: Bucharest Rebels
The eight-time champion Bucharest Rebels started the season strong, boasting a 3-0 record. They didn’t play in Week 1 due to a forfeit by the Timisoara 89ers, but made a statement in Week 2 with a dominant 48-0 road win against the Mures Monsters. Quarterback Timothy Morovick put on a clinic with a jaw-dropping performance: 6 passing touchdowns and 1 rushing touchdown.
In Week 3, the Rebels hit the field with a new quarterback, shifting their offensive strategy to focus more on the run game and short passes. The adjustment paid off immediately, as they came out firing, scoring an impressive 20 points in just the first quarter. By the second quarter, they had already reached the mercy rule, leaving no doubt about who controlled the game. WR/DB Elijah Aikens put on a show, racking up 4 touchdowns and seemingly gliding through the defense with ease. RB Mircea Cionoiu added two touchdowns of his own, proving to be a consistent threat on the ground. With standout Wide Receivers Alex Irimia and Gabriel Tache, the Rebels have serious potential in the passing game. As the new QB settles in, it’s clear the team needs to capitalize more on these weapons through the air.
Defensively, the Rebels were just as impressive. DL Robert Baritz dominated up front. In the secondary, Begad Mostafa and Elijah Aikens locked down the field, making it nearly impossible for the Crusaders to throw effectively. The Cluj Crusaders were outmatched from the start, unable to keep up with the reigning champions. The Rebels cruised to a dominant 74-2 win and looked well on track for another title run.
2nd Place: Mures Monsters
The Mures Monsters opened the season with a commanding 42-0 win over the Cluj Crusaders in Week 1. However, they couldn’t carry that momentum into Week 2, falling to the Rebels. Heading into the bye week, the Monsters faced a major challenge as they had to replace both their head coach and defensive coordinator. Luckily, the transition went smoothly. OC Nick Davis stepped up as head coach, while import LB Keanu Thames took over as defensive coordinator, using his on-field leadership and experience to guide the defense.
Week 3 was a pivotal showdown against the Timisoara 89ers, with both teams sitting at 1-1. The game had all the energy of a heated rivalry, with high intensity and emotions running high. Three players were ejected during the game, two from 89ers and one from the Monsters. However, the chaos didn’t stop the Mureș from taking control. Led by standout performances from TE DJ Ruff, who found the end zone twice and WR/DB Quevin Readding who scored 1TD.
The Mureș defense was absolutely balling out. The front played with relentless aggression, putting constant pressure on the opposing quarterback. LB/TE Keanu Thames was a force in the run game and added to the scoreboard with a pick-six, matching Quevin Readding who also returned an interception for a touchdown. In total, the defense recorded five interceptions, three of which were returned for touchdowns, fueling the offensive explosion and making it a game-long competition between the offense and defense to see who could score more. The Monsters secured a key victory and proved they’re still legitimate title contenders.
3rd Place: Timisoara 89ers
After a two-year hiatus, the 89ers returned to the league with renewed energy, a revamped coaching staff, new management, and several fresh faces on the roster. Unfortunately, logistical issues forced them to forfeit their Week 1 matchup against the Rebels. In Week 2 however, they bounced back with a narrow 14-12 home victory over the Cluj Crusaders.
In week 3, the 89ers struggled after losing two players to ejection, most notably their dynamic DL/TE Michael Pope who had been a constant disruption on the line. His absence was clearly felt, leaving a noticeable gap in both the pass rush and blocking schemes. RB Charles Arnold fought hard and kept his team in the fight with two touchdowns, but he couldn’t carry the load alone. WR Cristi Danila showed flashes of potential, he’s definitely a player to watch. With a reliable quarterback connection, he has the ability to dominate.
However, the biggest issue for Timișoara continues to be their passing game. The offensive line needs to improve in protection, and the overall aerial attack lacks consistency. Despite the struggles, there's still hope for Timișoara to make a playoff push, but time is running out, and improvements need to come quickly.
4th Place: Cluj Crusaders
It’s been a rocky start for the Crusaders, who’ve struggled with consistency on both sides of the ball. In Week 1, they were shut out by the Monsters. Week 2 saw a defensive resurgence, with the Crusaders returning two interceptions for touchdowns in a tight contest, but they ultimately fell short against the 89ers.
Week 3 didn’t offer much relief, as they were overmatched by a dominant Rebels squad. QB Paul Cirja struggled throughout the entire game, unable to get anything going against the relentless Rebels defense. Despite his efforts, he was under constant pressure and couldn’t find any rhythm. RB Cristian Totolici fought hard and gave it his all, but was repeatedly shut down by the aggressive and disciplined Rebels defensive line.
The Crusaders defense also had a rough outing, missing tackles and allowing the Rebels to score quickly and effortlessly. The lack of physicality and organization made it difficult to stop the momentum once the Rebels got rolling.
If Cluj hopes to stay in the race for the championship, they’ll need to make serious adjustments and fast. Time is running out, and unless they turn things around quickly, their playoff hopes could slip away.
