FFFA D1 - Power Ranking Week 3

Arnaud Dignocourt

Northern Division

1st Place: The Flash - La Courneuve

Another week, another win for La Courneuve. No points allowed against the Leopards and 34 points scored. Undoubtedly the best team right now. However, they are currently in the easier part of their schedule. Anyway, this win should bring great momentum for the rest of the season.

2nd Place: Molosses - Asnières-sur-Seine

An aggressive team that did not give any chance to the Diables Rouges. Brody Hahn is the guy on offense—he has an impressive ability to make big plays out of bad situations. Two more passing touchdowns and a lot of rushing yards for Super Hahn this week. We have higher expectations than before. This team has a lot of quality and is a real contender this year, as they look better week after week. But do they have what it takes to win the Casque de Diamant? We'll probably have an answer next week.

3rd Place: Black Panthers - Thonon-les-Bains

The Black Panthers completely annihilated the Cougars in a huge 56-0 win with little resistance from opponents. With a dominant defense and an offense that never looked under pressure against the Cougars, this was not a big test match for this team. They should expect to face more competitive opposition in the coming weeks to prove that they are serious contenders for the title.

4th Place: Léopards - Rouen

Despite their scoreless loss against the Flash, the Leopards are ranked this high because of their defense. Which has proven to still be pretty solid. They also played without a “real” quarterback this week, as Nicolas Cremer was injured and Noah Carreau had the flu. However, they lost a bit of their discipline. This was a game to forget, but nothing really alarming.

5th Place: Diables Rouges - Villepinte

Their only win of the season so far is a decent one against the presumably bottom team in the league. In Week 3, the Diables Rouges faced the Molosses but only found the end zone once. The offense struggled a lot, and Badis Grami was subbed out for Adrien Roux. The defense played pretty well, with Mehdi Roudeau as a standout performer.

6th Place: Cougars - Saint-Ouen-l’Aumône

Nothing really seems to go well for the Cougars right now. They are 0-3, and right now wouldn't bet on seeing big changes in the foreseeable future. Expect to see at least one or two wins, but at the end of the day, they do not look to be in the playoff race. As football is a continuous cycle, they are probably at the end of one and will have to wait for the beginning of another to hope to get their heads above water.

Southern Division

Tied 1st Place: Iron Mask - Cannes & Ours - Toulouse

Both teams won by one point this week and are now leading the South. This division is pretty stacked, but these two stand above the rest. We would put Iron Mask just slightly ahead of the Ours, as the Grizzlies (Ours’ opponent) had their chance to win but blew a 21-7 lead at the end of the third quarter.

3rd Place: Argonautes - Aix-en-Provence

Not much more to say about this Argonautes team. We said it last week—a well-balanced team with strong run-based schemes and play calls. Third this week but probably lower next week? It’s hard to define their real strength. It’s obvious they are on a great run, but how great are they really?

4th Place: Grizzlies - Perpignan

A very convincing performance against a contender always feels good. The Grizzlies even led the game until the third quarter but couldn’t hold on. Watch out for them in the coming weeks—they might surprise us and climb up the rankings!

5th Place: Blue Stars - Marseille

Pretty sad—the Marseille Blue Stars were winning at the beginning of the last quarter. Last year, they were at the top, but now they're a shadow of their former selves. They are still struggling on offense while their defense keeps them afloat.

6th Place: Dauphins - Nice

A much better look for the Dauphins. They were more disciplined on defense and made big plays on offense as well. We told you to keep an eye on Sullivan Silverio, and you definitely should. He’s by far one of the most important players—a true Swiss army knife.
