Panthers Wrocław Triumphs Over Berlin Thunder in Season Opener

The Panthers Wrocław made a triumphant start to their European League of Football season, defeating Berlin Thunder 49:39 in a thrilling match at the Tarczyński Arena. This game marked the highest attendance in Panthers' history, with over 15,000 fans filling the stadium and several hundred thousand more watching on television.


A Thrilling Contest

The season opener was an electrifying affair, living up to the hype that surrounds matchups between Wrocław and Berlin. Both teams battled fiercely, exchanging points throughout the game, keeping fans on the edge of their seats until the final whistle. Panthers Wrocław ultimately secured the victory with a 49:39 scoreline, showcasing their resilience and skill.


The excitement wasn’t confined to the field. Pre-game festivities included appearances by UFC champion Jan Błachowicz and renowned rappers Tede, O.S.T.R., and Sarius. Błachowicz had the honor of performing the coin toss, while the rappers entertained the crowd with a halftime concert.


"The atmosphere was amazing! Our players were supported by tens of thousands of fans in the stands. This game will certainly go down in history, especially since our team started the season in great style. Now, we are not slowing down, because this Saturday we will host our rivals from Stuttgart at the Olympic Stadium. Our goal is another victory, and we invite fans to the stands; I believe we will see crowds again!" said Michał Latoś, president of Panthers Wrocław.


Player Reactions

The players echoed the excitement and pride following their hard-fought victory. AJ Wetland expressed his gratitude for the support and enthusiasm of the fans. "The game day atmosphere was amazing and the fans were great. I’m very thankful to be part of such a great organization! As for the game itself, I’m very proud of my teammates for battling all the way to the end of the game. I’m honored to step on the field with them. We are excited to continue getting better and look forward to next week! Go Panthers!"


Adam Dobkowski, playing his first game for the Panthers, shared his experience. "We knew the match against Berlin Thunder would be demanding and tough. For me, it was my first game wearing the Panthers' colors, and it was a wonderful feeling to play in front of such a large and fantastic crowd. The fans definitely enjoyed the match and the entire event. We gave the audience a spectacular show with emotions running high until the very last seconds. Thanks to the hard work of the entire team, we defeated the team from Berlin. Nevertheless, we made a lot of mistakes, which we have been working hard on since Monday to be fully prepared for the match against Stuttgart Surge."


Steven Duncan highlighted the team's resilience. "It was a hard-fought match! We faced adversity early and we handled it well. We kept pushing in all three phases and made the plays when it counted!"


Zac Oueldsidi emphasized the significance of the fans' support. "The home game opener was such a thrill, from the organization of the game to the scoreboard and final whistle blow for us to come out victorious and protect the house. The fans' attendance numbers meant so much to us as players and organization, and we could only return the favor by going 1-0. We will get better through the week and head to game 2 with all eyes on another win!"


Looking Ahead

The Panthers Wrocław have more home games on the horizon. On June 1st, they will face Stuttgart Surge, followed by a game against the Vienna Vikings on June 9th. Both matches will be held at the Olympic Stadium in Wrocław, promising more excitement and high-energy football for the fans.


With their eyes set on maintaining their winning streak, the Panthers are gearing up for another intense match, aiming to delight their supporters once again and secure another victory. The season has just begun, and Panthers Wrocław are ready to roar.
