Team Preview: Prague Lions

Restore The Roar

The Prague Lions; last year a fresh new team to the European League of Football. A team that brought a different dynamic into the league welcoming all of us to Eastern Europe with the mission to prove they can compete at the highest level in Europe. Ultimately the Lions were in for a rude awakening. The Prague Lions showed promise in the first quarter of the season but really became a team that could not get out of their own way. Not on the field, but what would seem like off-the-field management, sponsorship, and ownership trouble would start to settle in. The Lions would go on and finish the season 1-11

New Lions Pride

It’s a new year and a new Lion pride that is being restored in Prague. With new ownership led by Mason Parker and NFL Wide Receiver Davonte Parker, the “new” Lions look to prove that things are different and they are ready to become a contender in the European League of Football.

3 Key Imports

  1. DB, Daniel Wright - The Lions actually didn’t have bad defense play last year, but because of offensive inconsistency, they were constantly put in difficult circumstances. Daniel Wright has to be the captain of that secondary this year and will be tasked to be the guy to take away Jarvis McClam, Aaron Jackson, Jordan Bouah, Nathaniel Robitaille, Matt, and John Cole.

  2. WR, Radim Kalous- With an already decent Homegrown WR group adding a guy like Radim is huge. He has experience playing at a high level and can grow into a bigger threat this year in the European League of Football.

  3. OL, Lawrence Cornwall-Baptiste- The Offensive Line was a huge hole for the Prague Lions last year. You need quality Offensive Line play if you want to have a chance. I like what Prague has done, bringing in Lawrence and I’m sure Kyre agrees.

Team outlook

Prague has to show they are a team that can compete physically and mentally with some of the best talent in all of Europe. Last year this was a team that beat themselves on special teams, and couldn’t really find themselves on offense. Defensively they probably gave up towards the end of last year. This is a whole new year and energy though for the Prague Lions. The Lions put together a good team with quality talent at positions of need, some fresh new young faces with high-level experience, and a 2 headed monster at RB with Adam Zouželka and Meril Paul Zero. If they can wear teams down with these two guys I think they can surprise some teams this year.

Schedule

The league did the Lions no favors with their schedule. We are going to find out quickly about the Prague Lions within the first eight weeks of the season which include three road trips to Germany and one to Poland. It’s going to be interesting to see how this team improved from year one in the European League of Football to now. We will see if they can Restore the Roar.
