Week 6 GFL Power Ranking

#1 Potsdam Royals

The Potsdam Royals are proving to be a powerhouse in the league, showcasing their dominance with a resounding 74-20 victory over the Berlin Rebels this past weekend. Star quarterback Jaylon Henderson seems unstoppable, currently boasting an incredible 29 passing touchdowns this season. On the defensive side, Defensive Tackle Alan Steinohrt leads the league with 4.5 sacks, closely followed by his teammate, linebacker Joshua Wuensch, who has 4 sacks.

The Royals enter their bye week with confidence, eagerly anticipating a tougher challenge in Week 8 when they face the Dresden Monarchs. The Monarchs are one of the few teams that could potentially pose a threat to the Royals' unrelenting march towards greatness.

#2 Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns

The Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns enjoyed a well-deserved bye week and are now gearing up for their upcoming game against the Munich Cowboys. The Unicorns boast a formidable combination of quarterback Conor Miller, who has thrown 11 touchdowns this season, and running back Mike Gentili, averaging 116.7 yards per game. Additionally, linebacker Sam Viera is a defensive powerhouse, averaging 11.3 tackles per game. This trio is expected to be a significant challenge for the Cowboys as the Unicorns aim to continue their strong performance this season.

#3 Dresden Monarchs

The Dresden Monarchs enjoyed their bye week, benefiting from the impressive performances of quarterback Brock Domann, who averages over 300 passing yards per game. Domann's reliable target, receiver Ricky Smalling, consistently delivers, while defensive lineman Michael Badejo effectively keeps opposing QBs in check. The Monarchs now prepare to face the Berlin Adler, a team that has recently been making headlines with their positive results. This upcoming game promises to be a thrilling encounter as Dresden aims to maintain their momentum.

#4 Allgäu Comets

The Allgäu Comets utilized their bye week to prepare for upcoming challenges. This weekend, they will face the IFM Razorbacks Ravensburg. Throughout the season, the Comets have showcased a dazzling offense that fans love to watch. Quarterback Xeavier Bullock, who averages over 400 passing yards per game and has thrown 17 touchdowns, has made a spectacular entrance into European football. The wide receiver duo of Nate Stewart and Ahsan Moore has also impressed, combining for 12 touchdown catches. The Comets are looking to continue their offensive brilliance against the Razorbacks.

#5 Berlin Adler

The Berlin Adler seem to have found their rhythm, securing a 44-33 win against the Paderborn Dolphins. In a surprising twist, neither starting quarterback Hendrik Scharnbacher or his backup Sebastian Schulz took the field. Instead, it was head coach Zach Cavanaugh who led the Adler. Last year, Cavanaugh was the team's quarterback before hanging up his cleats to focus on coaching. However, he showed he still has what it takes, throwing for 240 yards and four touchdowns with zero interceptions.

Fans are now left wondering whether Cavanaugh will continue to play or if he'll revert to his coaching role as the Adler prepare to face the Dresden Monarchs next week.

#6 Hildesheim Invaders

The Hildesheim Invaders may not have played a perfect game, but they managed to clinch a thrilling victory in overtime by stopping a two-point conversion attempt by the IFM Razorbacks Ravensburg. This gripping contest highlighted areas for improvement, and the Invaders will use the upcoming break to recover and refine their strategies. In Week 8, they will face the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes, where they will need to deliver a top performance to secure another win.

#7 Paderborn Dolphins

The Paderborn Dolphins suffered a 44-33 home defeat against the Berlin Adler, bringing their record to 2-3 and placing them fifth in the GFL North. American quarterback Zachary Whitehead, who previously played in Finland, has thrown six touchdowns this season but also recorded five interceptions. The standout in their offense is running back Joshua Breece, while star linebacker AJ Valentine impresses with 45 tackles.

The Dolphins now have a bye week to regroup before facing the New Yorker Lions Braunschweig. In their previous encounter, the Dolphins narrowly secured a win. It remains to be seen how the upcoming rematch will unfold.

#8 New Yorker Lions Braunschweig

The New Yorker Lions Braunschweig utilized their bye week to prepare for their upcoming match against the Saarland Hurricanes. With a current record of 1-3, the Lions sit at the bottom of the GFL North standings. The game against the Hurricanes presents a manageable challenge for the Lions as they aim to climb the rankings and turn their season around.

#9 IFM Razorbacks Ravensburg

The IFM Razorbacks Ravensburg traveled north to face the Hildesheim Invaders in an intense inter conference game. Ravensburg struggled early, falling behind 14-0, but managed to close the gap to 14-10 by halftime. The second half saw a back-and-forth battle, with both teams exchanging scores. The game went into overtime tied at 24-24. In overtime, the Invaders scored first, leading 31-24. Ravensburg responded with a touchdown but failed on the two-point conversion, losing a nail-biter 31-30. Next week, the Razorbacks face the Allgäu Comets, a formidable challenge.

#10 Kiel Baltic Hurricanes

Next week, the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes face the Berlin Rebels in a must-win game. Currently holding a 1-3 record and sitting in 7th place in the GFL North, the Hurricanes are in dire need of a victory to improve their standings.

The team is counting on standout performances from wide receiver Isaiah Harris, running back Lorenz Rotermund, and defensive back CJ Davis. Their contributions will be crucial for Kiel to secure an important win and turn their season around.

#11 Berlin Rebels

The Berlin Rebels were dismantled by the Potsdam Royals in their recent matchup. Reeling from this shock, the Rebels now prepare to face the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes in the upcoming game. A victory is crucial for Berlin to stay in contention for the last playoff spot. With their playoff hopes on the line, the Rebels need a strong performance to regain momentum.

#12 Straubing Spiders

The Straubing Spiders achieved a superb victory against the Saarland Hurricanes. Quarterback Luis Wittmann finally had a standout performance, contributing with two touchdown passes to lead his team to success. The Spiders now head into a bye week, giving them time to prepare for their next challenge against the formidable Allgäu Comets.

#13 Munich Cowboys

The Munich Cowboys return from a bye week and will need an A+ performance to secure a result against the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns. With 2 wins and 1 loss, the Cowboys sit at third place in the GFL South and have proven they can compete with anyone. Now, they must rise to the challenge against one of the league's toughest opponents.

#14 Saarland Hurricanes

The Saarland Hurricanes have yet to hit their stride this season, currently holding a 1-4 record and sitting in 5th place in the GFL South. Unable to replicate their impressive performances from last season, the Hurricanes faced a disappointing 12-40 loss to the Straubing Spiders. They now prepare to host the New Yorker Lions Braunschweig, hoping to turn their fortunes around and get back on track.

#15 Kirchdorf Wildcats

The Kirchdorf Wildcats are in the midst of two consecutive bye weeks, providing ample time to prepare for their Week 8 matchup against the Munich Cowboys. With a current record of 0-4, the Wildcats are eager to secure their first victory of the season. Will the extended preparation time help the Wildcats claim their first win? Only time will tell.
